Penny Arcade is one of the fortified strongholds for nerds everywhere to come and share their thoughts on gaming and technology. However, Penny Arcade isn't just satisfied with making comics and T-shirts. They've teamed up with Hothead Games and announced that their going to be releasing an online community/marketplace called Greenhouse. This digital Steam-like hub will be a place where indie PC developers can upload their games to sell. The community will be able to download the games for a price and the first game on the site will be no other than, Penny Arcade Adventures: On The Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness!
The games that appear on Greenhouse will be moderated or submitted directly by Penny Arcade's staff. Revenue for the game developers will be arranged accordingly and may be more generous to the developers. Jerry Holkins, a writer for Penny Arcade, stated, "I think that most publishing arrangements are full of shit," saying that most organized revenue plans for the game developers are sad and that they don't get a fair share of profits.
The beta for Greenhouse went live yesterday, however doesn't feature any games yet. Greenhouse has set up base in Vancouver, British Columbia, near Hothead Games. Penny Arcade and Hothead Games don't have a release date for their new title yet, however will be available for $20 on PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox Live Arcade.
